British & Irish Lions

HSBC recently announced the renewal of its sponsorship of the British & Irish Lions. The partnership, which will run until the end of the next Lions Tour to Australia in 2013, follows the successful sponsorship of the 2009 tour to South Africa, signed in 2007. The agreement means that HSBC are the first Principal Partner to ever renew a sponsorship with The Lions and will see the Group become shirt sponsor of the team once again..

The 2009 Lions Tour allowed HSBC to connect with communities, staff and customers across the UK, Ireland and South Africa. Through our grassroots investments from youth coaching to coach education and a ticketing and mascot programme in South Africa we were able to make a significant difference to the communities we served – the legacy of which continues today.

HSBC in Eventing

HSBC has supported Eventing through it's partnership with the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) since 2008. In February this year HSBC announced the renewal of its sponsorship of the HSBC FEI Classics and the HSBC FEI European Championships for a further three years.

The sport of Eventing, part of the Olympic programme since 1912, is a combined competition discipline in which men and women compete as equals. It demands considerable experience in all branches of equitation and a precise knowledge of the horse's ability and character.

At the centre of all HSBC's sponsorships is a commitment to promoting youth, education and community. HSBC continues its support of the Pony Club, the world's largest youth organisation. The HSBC Pony Club Eventing Training programme, offers free tuition to all of Britain's Pony Club branches from the very best Eventing trainers.

HSBC also offers training bursaries to the winners of each class in the Grassroots Championship at the HSBC FEI Classics™ events. The initiative started in 2009 and aims to involve young riders in prestigious event competition in the early stages of their Eventing careers. It adds greatly to the riders experience and HSBC is delighted to be part of this initiative by providing additional support through training bursaries for the BE90 and BE100 winners.
